The easiest way of Kimono Sleeve pattern making

Kimono sleeve pattern making

A Kimono sleeve is one of various sleeve designs. It gives you a wider armhole and sleeve hem than normal set-in sleeve. Most of the time, the sleeve is attached to the body, so there’s no armhole line. If your Kimono shoulder seam is straight, you can even attach front and back together.

In this video, I show you how to draft Kimono sleeves starting with blouse body patterns. You’ll see how to move the chest dart to the armhole line. And how to revise shoulder seam to be the same angle front and back.

The angle of the shoulder line is your design line. Even though I added ¼” to the shoulder point (in the video), you don’t have to do it. Or you can add more than that.

If the sleeve angle is big from the body, you will have more room for movement at the under arm, and it becomes a Dolman sleeve.

You can make a Kimono sleeve long or short, and also you can make it wider or narrower.
