Body Armhole vs Sleeve Armhole
Most of the time, the sleeve armhole length is bigger than the body armhole length because the sleeve armhole has ease.
Body Armhole = Sleeve Armhole + Ease
There is almost no ease when you make a drop shoulder with a wide bicep. There will be a big amount of ease when you make a tailored blazer with a high sleeve cap height.
No matter how much ease you have, ease goes only to the sleeve cap. You don't want to have a ease at underarm. So you make notches to the body armhole and sleeve armhole for sewers to know where the ease is placed.
